I’ve talked to so many people who have left Pinterest out of frustration. I can’t blame them! Like me their Pinterest feed was overrun with AI slop: content that is just poorly made. Stuff “written” by non-humans and images faked by digital programs. The quality was not what it used to be since AI invaded. Today I’ve got a fix for you! (by Robin)

This fix has worked for me, a bunch of my friends, my kids and their friends.

Guys, Gen Z highly approves of this strategy and I’m now seen as a super cool mom amongst them. I’m chuffed. They were all ready to quit Pinterest – which they loved for ideas and fun – just because of all the AI slop clogging up their happy place.

Five Minute Fix: Here’s How to Stop the AI Slop in Your Pinterest Feed

At first I thought you could only fix this through the desktop version of the site – Nope! You can fix your feed in both. Here are screenshots from the mobile version.

Step 1: Go to Your Pinterest Settings

1) In the top right corner of your profile page click on the three dots.

2) Then click on settings.

2) Choose “Refine your recommendations”

3) Deselect GenAI Interests

1) Select “GenAI Interests”. It’s the last in the list.

2) Toggle OFF all the categories. (Unless you want to see AI in some, then leave those on – suit yourself.)

4) Enjoy Pinterest Again!

Your feed should now be predominately real ideas and images from real people! Welcome back to the safe, happy place for creativity that Pinterest once was.
