Easy & Healthy 4 Ingredient Guacamole Recipe
I am astonished by how much they charge for Guacamole at the grocery store! (Especially when our 4 Ingredient Guacamole Recipe is so cheap and easy to make – and tastes amazing.)

Today I saw $5 for the amount we get from one avocado! Whoa.
And the taste! Ug. Like moist, green, cream of blah. (I imagine it’s pretty close to what Soylent Green tastes like, except not made of people.)
Years ago, after exploring recipes for our favourite green dip, I got tired just reading about all the chopping. I am much too lazy for all that – especially when I have a hankering for guac.
I was on the hunt for a real simple homemade guacamole that could be made in minutes.
A closer look revealed an easier way.
Along with the avocado, most recipes also called for: chopped tomatoes, chopped onion, garlic, cilantro, peppers. That sounds an awful lot like the same ingredients of our salsa. Hmmm…
We often take our Easy Guacamole to parties. Every single time we get asked for the recipe.
We usually say, “You take some avocado. You take some salsa. Tada.” People look at us like we’re holding out on them. Like there’s some secret ingredient we’re keeping to ourselves.
Here it is, written up in traditional recipe form, but really, there’s almost nothing to it.
OK, we do have a bit of a secret ingredient. Every fall we make our own salsa and can it. Here’s our salsa recipe and canning tutorial.
For now, any decent salsa will do.
And of course, ripe avocados. (Here’s how to tell if an avocado is ripe.) And are you wondering…
What ingredient keeps guacamole from turning brown?
We’ve found the very best way to keep guac from turning brown is twofold.
First – lime juice. It tastes wonderful and the acid helps prevent the oxidative enzymatic browning process (Thanks Registered Dietitian training! 🙂 )
Second – keep the air out. Through trial and error we’ve learned to use plastic wrap and lay it right onto the surface of the guacamole. Then seal it to the sides of the bowl. This keeps all the air out and keeps your guac fresh and green.
Easy 4 Ingredient Guacamole Recipe

Ingredients:
- 2-3 Avocados (ripe when they yield slightly to pressure)
- 1 tsp this roasted red pepper and garlic seasoning (Club House)
- 1/2 cup Salsa (less if you are doing 2 avocados or if they are on the smaller side)
- 1 tsp Lime juice (for flavour and to prevent browning)
*Optional – dash of cayenne, hot sauce or Tabasco if you like some kick*

We like ours with some little chunks, vs grocery store pureed.

Push the wrap right down onto the guac to keep as much air out as possible.
6. Let stand at room temperature for at least 1/2 hour to let flavours mellow. (Room temp guac tastes infinitely better than cold!)
Leftovers should be used within a day or two…or so we’re told…we’ve never had leftovers.
